I’ve been a subscriber for several months now and am planning to overseed my lawn with Blackjack this summer. It’s currently and has always been fescue. Do I need to kill the fescue, or just scarify and plant at the appropriate time? Thank you for the continued education.

Doc, I have shade on the North side of my 2-story house, as well as shade from cedar fence that shades an area of lawn as well. What grass (a creeping type?) would be a good “partner” growing next to the existing common Bermuda for the shade areas? The Bermuda that gets sufficient sun grows.
Doc, I have clay that has gotten hard, making “raw dirt” areas. I need to aerate, but not sure whether to go with fat-spikes or cores. I plan to heavily HumiChar and PGF Complete after aerating. I have already used springtime Balance 3 weeks back. Also, is Zoysia a good companion for Bermuda?

Doc, I bought my house last year and the yard is an absolute wreck. The house was built in 1999. I spoke with the next door neighbor and he claims that the owner never put sod down after building.
