Lawn Lime PH and Fall Lawn Care

Doc shows the results from the new seeding project and talks about soil PH and using lime to adjust. Lime should only be applied to lawns that have had a soil test and show a LOW PH. If the PH is high, the sulfur is generally used. This process takes time and should be done over a 6 month period. Don’t try and adjust your PH all at once.

Lime for Lawns Adjusting PH Video

Clay soils require more lime than sandy soils. Start with 20 – 60 pounds per 1000 sq ft to make adjustments.  Remember the GENERAL rule of thumb is 100 pounds to adjust one point.

Have you ever burned your Bermuda grass in the spring? By burned I mean set fire to it. What are the pros and cons?

Hi Doc, the fungus in my area (Tinley Park, Il.) has been awful. Get it under control and then it comes back. Do you have any suggestions on how to prepare for next year. I know the fungus will be back.

Hi Doc,
I was lucky and was able to get a bag of green shocker. I applied it to my lawn on Tuesday and by Friday i could see the difference in the dark green appearance of my lawn. Thanks for all the great advice.

Doc, I watched one of your videos about adding chicken feed and the humichard to your yard. Is the chicken feed just good old chicken feed from the feed store?
Thanks

Ps: love your videos.
