Chicken Coop Waste Hot Winter Garden Compost

Doc explains how he makes hot garden compost in the winter by adding chicken coop waste and DirtBooster Plus. This is the only thing Doc adds to his veggie garden and the results are amazing with no fertilizers needed.

How to Make compost with Dirt Booster Plus

DirtBooster Plus is designed as a “super compost” starter that uses heat and microbial activity to break down organic matter much faster than traditional methods—often in just 7 to 12 days.1

How to Use DirtBooster Plus in a Compost Pile

For the best results, the manufacturer recommends using it in a layered “pyramid” method, ideally with a base of manure-based compost (like Black Kow).

  1. Layering: Begin by laying down a layer of manure compost (or garden soil).3 Sprinkle a generous layer of DirtBooster Plus over the top.
  2. Repeat: Continue alternating layers of compost/soil and DirtBooster Plus until your pile reaches the desired size.
  3. Moisten: Lightly wet the pile with a hose.6 It should be moist like a wrung-out sponge, but not muddy.
  4. The “5-Minute Wait”: Let the pile sit for about 5–10 minutes to allow the particles to begin absorbing the water.
  5. Mix & Shape: Thoroughly mix the pile and shape it into a pyramid.
  6. The Vent Hole: Use a pole or broom handle to poke a hole from the top of the pyramid straight down to the bottom.10 This allows oxygen to reach the center to fuel the aerobic microbes.
  7. Monitor: Within 24–48 hours, the pile should heat up (as high as 130°F).11 You may see a white, fuzzy “haze” on the pile—this is beneficial fungi and a sign it’s working.

Important: Do not plant directly into the finished “Super Compost.”13 It is extremely nutrient-dense and can burn plant roots.14 Always mix it into your existing garden soil.

Key Benefits

Using this product shifts your composting from a passive process to an accelerated biological reaction.

  • Speed: It turns raw organic matter into usable compost in roughly 10 days, compared to the 6–12 months traditional piles usually take.

Microbial “Kickstart”: It contains a blend of beneficial bacteria and fungi that are

  • specifically chosen to break down carbon and nitrogen efficiently.
  • Premium Ingredients: Unlike basic starters, it includes:
  • Biochar & Humic Acid: To hold onto nutrients and improve soil structure.16
  • Molasses & Corn Distillates: These act as “fuel” to feed the microbes so they can multiply rapidly.17
  • Heat Sterilization: Because the pile heats up so quickly (130°F+), it can help kill off many weed seeds and pathogens that cooler compost piles might leave behind.
  • High Nutrient Density: The resulting compost is highly concentrated, meaning a little bit goes a long way when mixed into your garden beds.
